Shropshire Community Transport Consortium

Who Are We?

ShropshireCommunity Transport Consortium forum promotes community transport in Shropshire. We were established in 2004 and became a Forum Member in 2008. We meet on a monthly basis and meetings are attended by a wide range of community transport operators, voluntary organisations and other interested parties from across Shropshire. We consist of Bishops Castle Dial-a-Ride, Bridgnorth Community Transport, Buzzard Corvedale Community Bus, Church Stretton Area Ring & Ride, Friendly Bus Broseley & Much Wenlock, Ludlow Traveller, North Salop Wheelers, Oswestry Dial-a-Ride, Shrewsbury Dail-A-Ride and Shropshire Wheels to Work.

Our Aims

The aim of the forum is for community transport operators to share information, discuss pertinent issues affecting them and their service users and allow them to collectively promote community transport in Shropshire. We discuss and takes action on many different issues such as community transport funding, regulation issues, joint working initiatives and the promotion of community transport services. The forum allows us to increase our influence, learn from each other and share ideas.

Our Achievements

The Consortium has enjoyed many successes over the years – it was instrumental in setting up the A to B website and recently successfully negotiated significant changes to the Community Transport funding formula with Shropshire Council. We have recently established a CT Company through which it is our aim to develop partnerships with public, statutory and private bodies and with other voluntary sector bodies to deliver much needed transport services.

The Consortium aims to be inclusive and welcomes anyone with an interest or involvement in Community Transport of any sort.  Anyone interested in joining or attending a meeting should contact the Chairperson.
