You will be aware from the media, the novel coronavirus, now known as Covid-19, has been confirmed in 9 people in the UK as at 13th February 2020. On Thursday 30 January the World Health Organization declared this as a global health emergency and in response, the four UK Chief Medical Officers raised the risk to the public from low to moderate. It is being led by Public Health England (PHE).
Current estimates are that the rate of infectivity and illness is broadly similar to the seasonal flu. The coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, China, is still a rapidly evolving situation.
