Benefit Mythbuster Launched Online

Benefit Mythbuster is a new online web tool designed to help address commonly held myths and misconceptions about universal credit. People can choose from three options – ‘Starting a New Claim’, ‘Managing your Claim’, and ‘Solving Problems’ to find out more.

Benefit Mythbuster is one of a range of web tools from the advice and technology charity Lasa, who also deliver rightsnet – the social welfare law information & advice site for advisers.

Universal Credit: consultation announced

The Social Security Advisory Committee will examine the draft legislation set out by the government on Universal Credit ‘managed migration’. As part of this examination, the Committee has recently launched a consultation seeking insight into various aspects of the proposals. The task of safely moving around 3 million claimants (in around 2 million households) from legacy benefits to Universal Credit raises important questions about the delivery challenge facing the department and the potential impact on claimants.

The Committee has released calls for evidence to inform its response to the Secretary of State. The consultation will remain open until 20 August.
