The Centre for Regional Economic and Social Research (CRESR) at Sheffield Hallam University, in partnership with NCVO, is offering a fully funded ESRC PhD studentship as part of the ESRC White Rose Doctoral Training Partnership: “Understanding the impact of enduring public sector austerity on local civil society-state relationships”.
The research will use a mixed quantitative-qualitative methodology to explore the interrelationships between local government and local, formally registered civil society organisations in a period of public sector austerity, focussing on resource flows, service delivery and partnership working.
The successful applicant will have a keen interest in the role and value of civil society organisations across a range of public policy fields. The start date for the studentship is 1 October 2018 and it can be undertaken on a part-time or full-time basis. You can find more information including how to apply, deadlines, contact details and eligibility criteria in this information sheet.
