When: Friday 17 November 2017 at 2.00pm
Where: Room SGH019 of the Shrewsbury University Campus in Frankwell, Shrewsbury
Guest Speaker: Baron Rooker of Perry Barr
Lord Rooker is a Labour Life peer sitting in the House of Lords since 16 June 2001, and previously MP for Birmingham Perry Barr. He has held a number of Ministerial posts in various government departments, including Defra, and his policy interests include agriculture, animals, food, rural affairs, communities and families. Lord Rooker currently sits on the Select Committee on Charities which was set up in May 2016 to consider issues related to sustaining the charity sector and the challenges of charity governance. We are confident that Lord Rooker will be an interesting speaker for our very wide ranging membership.
RCC’s Annual General Meeting will take place at 2.00pm and will be followed by our speaker. The High Sheriff, Charles Lillis will also attend to present cheques to successful grant recipients and we hope to be able to launch our new grant scheme. Light refreshments will be served with the opportunity to browse our stalls and find out more about our work from staff and volunteers.
Everyone is welcome to attend, including non-RCC members, and they urge you to join us for a very interesting afternoon.
