A Date For Your Diaries: Shropshire Disability Network Meeting

Shropshire Disability Network look forward to welcoming attendees at their quarterly meeting on Thursday 9th June. It takes places at University Centre Shrewsbury, Guildhall, Frankwell Quay, Guildhall, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, SY3 8HQ

Anyone is welcome to join SDN for refreshments at 10.30 am prior to making a prompt start at 11 am.

SDN Management Committee always try to arrange speakers on a variety of topics of interest and at this meeting, they look forward to welcoming two guest speakers who will aim to be informative & helpful.

Katrina Gilman who has recently taken on the role of Equality & Diversity Officer for Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin will talk to us about Hate Crime/ Disability Awareness. Katrina has worked in varying roles in the Criminal Justice Department. She is passionate about Safe Places, a community initiative SDN lead on & they are pleased to be working in partnership with Taking Part & OSCA.

The second speaker is Kerrie Berroyer from Dazlious, who will talk on “learning the language of Autism”. Kerrie has her own story to tell, having no knowledge of autism, her life took a totally different direction when her son was born with Autism. This meant her professional career had to take a back seat! Come along & find out about Kerrie’s journey.

We have Sign Language Interpreters (BSL) at all our meetings. There will be opportunity to network throughout our meeting & we hope many of you will join us this quarter.
